Just Another Day in the NICU

Today was just anther day in the NICU.  Ellie slept almost all day.  She is comfortable but not as alert as she was, thanks to her increased dosage of the sedative.  It's extremely tough because we want her to be alert but we want her to be comfortable. The doctors are trying to find that happy medium.  Ellie is retaining a little extra fluid than the doctors would like so they started her back on lasix (water pill).  Her feeding has increased to 24ml per hour.  She is currently weighing 7lbs 4oz and will probably drop a few ounces of fluids.  The Bronchoscopy is still scheduled for Monday but now they are going to add another scope of some kind.  We were told they were going to do this imaging at her bedside but since they have added this additional scope they are going to take her to an operating room for the procedure.  We hate the thought of them moving our baby girl.  We want to protect her and be with her. We know we have to trust God and trust the excellent medical staff at Children's.

April and I are started to feel "burned out" on the whole NICU scene.  We want to take our baby girl home so bad.  The last 22 days have seemed like 6 months.  Please pray for our Ellie and for all of the sick children at Children's and all over the world.  Thank you for your continued prayers.

Matt (Ellie's daddy)
